First Day at Sea

Our first day at sea is here. We’re finding it a bit rough. Poor Kirstyn has been suffering. I got up early to attend the DVC welcome pyjama party. The party was at 9:00 am, but since we moved our clocks forward before going to bed, it felt more like 8 am. It was the usual gathering ... gift giveaway and 200 on board credit as the big prize. I won nothing.

After the party, I dragged Kirstyn out of bed and we made our way to brunch. We missed it by 15 minutes, so, it ended up being an early lunch. The day was non-eventful. We played board games, watched a movie, and wandered the ship. Kirstyn’s still had not found her sea legs, so she stayed in the cabin, while I went to the DIS meet. It was great meeting everyone! Such nice people are on the DIS board.

It was now time to get ready for dinner. Tonight is formal night. There were a lot of men in similar tuxes. It looked like a lot of them rented them. We got all dressed for the night, got our photo taken, and then made our way to Parrot’s Cay. Kirstyn did not last. Just the thought of eating was enough. She excused herself to go back to the room without eating. I had the scallops, potato soup, turbot and my personal favourite, the banana bread pudding. We finally met our head waiter. Her name is Nodyu from South Africa. It was weird. I was just saying that it was strange we had not met her, and five minutes later she walks up. So, I ate quickly and went to check on Kirstyn. My dinner mates recommended the sea band, even our assistant waiter Daniela had one, or two, on. I stopped at Treasure Ketch to pick one up for her. When I got back to the cabin, she put it on. After about an hour she started to feel better. Let’s hope this works or it’s going to be a long cruise.

We decided to skip the night activities and stay in tonight. We did get a nice surprise under our door. We got a signed Ducky Williams commemorative print. It was a picture of the white cliffs with Mickey, Donald, Goofy and Pluto carved in like Mount Rushmore.

So that is the highlight of our day. Tomorrow we are in Oslo, Norway. More to come!
